June 1, 2011: The Hangover Part II

The Hangover Part II opened this Memorial Day weekend to a record-breaking $135 Million. This marks Chris's fourth collaboration with director Todd Philips after School for Scoundrels, The Hangover and Due Date. Its predecessor remains the highest grossing R-rated comedy of all time.

February 11, 2011: Beck's Superman Nominated for IFMCA Award

The International Film Music Critics Association announced its 2010 nominees for scoring excellence.  Christophe is nominated in the Best Original Score for a Documentary Feature category for his work in Waiting for 'Superman'.  The score recently won the Hollywood Music in Media Award for Best Original Score: Indie/Short/Documentary.  Winners will be announced on February 25, 2011.

February 11, 2011: Cedar Rapids in Limited Release

Cedar Rapids, which recently received its world premiere at this year's Sundance film festival, begins its theatrical run today in limited release.  Check local listings in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Boston among other cities.  This is Beck's first collaboration with director Miguel Arteta (Chuck & Buck, The Good Girl, Youth in Revolt).

January 6, 2011: "Waiting for 'Superman'" score "in the hunt" for Academy Award

November 19, 2010: Beck Wins HMMA

Last night Christophe won the Hollywood Music in Media Award for "Best Original Score: Indie/Short/Documentary" for his work in "Waiting for 'Superman'". The film, directed by Davis Guggenheim, was just announced as one of 15 contenders for "Best Documentary Feature" at the 2011 Oscars.

November 5, 2010: Due Date

Todd Phillips and Christophe Beck team up again on the comedy "Due Date" (released on November 5th) featuring Robert Downey Jr and Zack Galifianakis.  This is their most recent collaboration since last summer's record breaking film, "The Hangover" which still holds the stop as the top grossing R-rated comedy of all time.  A soundtrack was released in conjunction with the film featuring three of Beck's score cues.

October 18, 2010: RED

RED (Retired Extremely Dangerous) starring Bruce Willis was released this past Friday.  Directed by Robert Schwentke (The Time Traveler's Wife, Flightplan), RED is an action comedy about retired CIA agents that get pulled back into the game through a government conspiracy.  This is Beck's first collaboration with Schwentke.

October 13, 2010: Beck Scores with Kings

Chris has composed the music for the 3-minute "pump video" which is shown before every LA Kings hockey game.  The video debuted last night before the Kings' season home opener at Staples Center.  Click here to listen!

September 24, 2010: "Waiting for 'Superman'" in theaters today

 

"Waiting for 'Superman'" opens today in limited release.  The film, directed by Davis Guggenheim, is a powerful and moving look at the public education crisis in America.  This is Beck's first full-length documentary score. Listen to clips here.

 

April 2, 2010: "The Greatest" in Limited Release

Shana Feste's drama "The Greatest" opens in limited release this weekend in New York and Los Angeles.  The film stars Pierce Brosnan, Susan Sarandon, and recent Oscar nominee Carrey Mulligan.  The intimate score features a small ensemble including Armenian duduk and plucked piano.  Listen to clips here.

March 25, 2010: Hot Tub Time Machine

The 80's sci-fi comedy "Hot Tub Time Machine" is getting good reviews and hits theaters nationwide tomorrow.  "Hot Tub" is Beck's first collaboration with Director Steve Pink and stars John Cusack, Rob Corddry, Craig Robinson, and Clark Duke. 

February 12, 2010: "Percy Jackson" Hits Theaters

From director Chris Columbus, "Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief" is released today in theaters across the country.  A teenager discovers he's the descendant of a Greek god and sets out on an adventure to settle an on-going battle between the gods.  Based on the book by Rick Riordan.  The soundtrack will be released on February 16th.

January 30, 2010: "Waiting for Superman" wins the Audience Award at Sundance

Davis Guggenheim's documentary "Waiting for Superman" won the Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival.  The documentary examines the public school system, taking a deep look at its troublesome problems and the approaches of education reformers.  This was Beck's second collaboration with Guggenheim following his 2008 documentary short on Obama, "American Stories".
